Koops, Inc. designed and built this system for transferring and processing rigid fiberboard blanks. The system grips each blank from its outer edges then indexes into the ovens for product heating, into a press for forming and exits the press to a staging conveyor. The handling system was critical for an increase in productivity, reduced material usage, increased machine reliability, and better quality finished parts. The system had to withstand high oven temperatures, avoid excessive wear from abrasive material, accommodate various material widths, provide a very soft start/stop index and perform reliably for millions of stop-start cycles.
